Individualized Multi-faceted Progressive Academic Career Training

 

I.M.P.A.C.T'S MISSION

It is the intention of Dade Marine Institute - South, that every student will successfully complete high school by earning a GED and establish a career path by successfully completing at least one semester of college, vocational/technical training or apprenticeship. All students will receive life skills preparation, including those skills necessary for living in a computer driven world.

I.M.P.A.C.T ADVANTAGES

Some of the advantages of the I.M.P.A.C.T program are that:

  • Our students are employed during the day and at the same time, getting an education in the early evening hours.
  • Students are learning that hard work pays off!
  • Our students are continuing their education and will continue to sdo so until they pass the GED and are enrolled in either college, vocational/ technical training or an apprenticeship program.
  • Our students will have the opportunity to qualify for financial assistance for post-secondary education programs through scholarships provided by AMI and Pell grants.
  • It is a fact that higher levels of education often produce a higher quality of life.
  • Through education, job readiness and life skill training we will help our students obtain skills that will open doors and I.M.P.A.C.Ttheir quality of life for the rest of their lives.

 

I.M.P.A.C.T PROGRAM SERVICES

All students will be assessed prior to enrollment and an individualized Academic Improvement Plan will be developed with the student's imput. All students will complete an assessment which indicates the student's interest level for various jobs/careers. An educational assessment will be done in the areas of reading and mathematics. All students will be employed part-time in accordance with the child labor laws. All students will be enrolled in five classes; English/Reading, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies and Work Experience. All students will be afforded with transportation from work to school and then home. Dinner will be provided.

4:00 p.m. ARRIVAL

4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. LIFE/WORK SKILLS

5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. ENGLISH

6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. MATHEMATICS

7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. SOCIAL STUDIES

8:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. SCIENCE

9:00 p.m. LARGE GROUP/DISMISSAL
